I am the CEO of Blue Ocean Ideas. We help clients tell their story well to get the results they want. I have two primary responsibilities at Blue Ocean Ideas:

1. develop a clear, concise, executable strategy for each of our clients to build their brand
2. develop a killer team to serve our clients

In order to do this I have a secret: I cheat. What I really do is surround myself with fantastic people. Here a few of the people that I have surrounded myself with:

Elise and I have been married for 22 years. She is a therapist in Towson, MD and the love of my life. You know all of those sensational love stories that you have seen in the movies about the couple that meets by chance, falls madly in love, and face challenges in life to form a bond that can’t be broken?

Those movies are all about Elise and me.

We have been given four children:

Caleb, Josh, Riley & Seth. There are no other people in the world that I would rather be with.

My partner in crime, Brody Bond is also known as “the most interesting man in the world.” I have told clients and friends for years to avoid partnerships. They most often end with you losing a well worn friend. Yet we have forged a powerful partnership that has stood the test of time and continues to grow. Brody is a gift to me, our team, and our clients. I spend more time with Brody than anyone else on this earth. I like the way I spend my time. He’s a character in the truest sense of the word. He’s also a valued friend. We are like brothers.

My team at Blue Ocean Ideas consists of Anna Grace, Chris, Maggie, and Brian.

Each are highly talented and motivated with an admirable work ethic. Without them Brody and I would be idealistic hot air idea makers. With them we all produce meaningful work filled with truth, goodness, and beauty. Each offer unique skills and talents that together make a formidable force. Each of us would be far less capable alone than we are together.

When I’m not at Blue Ocean Ideas or with my family I am riding a bike, running, playing ultimate frisbee, eating, or sleeping.

What Those Around Me Say

I can write about you in my sleep. But I have a very hard time writing about me. So I emailed 20 clients, business associates, and friends and asked them their favorite things about me. These were the common words used:

I’m humbled by this list. I think people give me too much credit. But I’m honored that they would use these words to describe me. It’s a high bar to try to live up to.

What I am striving for most is to learn to serve my family, team, clients, and friends well. I have come a long way but still have a long way to go. This blog is about the journey in life from my perspective as a husband, father, CEO, and athlete.
